IMPACT Health Clinic is a full-service, all-in-one injury clinic providing sports injury therapy and athletic therapy programs for injured athletes and non-athletes.
Our practice is backed by years of experience in providing athletic therapy and sports rehabilitation programs to our clients in the Lake land area of Alberta.
We treat all levels of athletes, including weekend warriors, when they are sidelined from their sport of choice with sprains, strains and fractures.
We do a thorough assessment to determine the cause of the injury, and then use a combination of hands-on techniques and technology to reduce pain and inflammation and begin the healing process.
We know that you don’t want to be sidelined for a season, so we pay attention to your goals and build the right combination of therapies to help you achieve them.
Once your immediate injury is healed, or just before you throw yourself into your seasonal sport of choice, we will work with you to counsel you on what to do to avoid recurring injuries.
We assess your movement and gait and ensure that habits you may have fallen into are not leading you on a course for continuing pain and injuries. We prepare you in advance for your season or for your return to play following an injury to ensure you don’t sustain repeat injuries.
Direct or indirect force to the head can cause a concussion, which is basically a disturbance in the brain function.
At IMPACT Health, we are experienced in using a variety of tools to aid in the diagnosis of concussion and monitor recovery from it.
Physical and cognitive rest are needed in the initial stages of recovery and as the symptoms ease, we work with patients to help them stabilize their posture and prevent the neck and shoulder pain that often accompanies concussions.
We will work one on one with you to guide your recovery and ensure that you do not get back to your normal level of activity or return to the sport of your choice before you are fully recovered.
Running Injury Clinic
If running or jogging is how you stay fit, focused and maintain a healthy weight, we want to encourage you by ensuring you get all the benefits from your efforts without risking injury from repetitive strain to your knees, hips and ankles.
Take in our running clinic to learn what you are doing right and what is setting you up for problems down the road. We will help you become aware of any issues that need changing or improving so you can give yourself fully to the pleasures of your run.
Pelvic Health Pain and Incontinence
Abdominal pain, pelvic floor pain, sexual dysfunction and pain, and pre-natal and post-partum related conditions can all keep you from enjoying life fully.
We are experienced and distinguished for our success in treating these conditions as well as fecal and urinary incontinence, irritable bowel syndrome, overactive bladder, and chronic constipation.
With a combination of therapy and exercise, we help you overcome the issue and work to ensure it does not return.
The toll of chronic pain on life’s everyday activities is devastating and many of those who suffer from it have stopped believing they will ever be all right and able to fully participate again.
We have acquired a distinguished reputation for finding relief of the underlying issues causing the pain and addressing it. Depending on the circumstances, we may use ancient remedies like acupuncture or dry needling or more modern technological aids like K-Laser or Shockwave Therapy.
We will work with you to help find the physiotherapy that works best for you and couple it with prescribed exercises so you can stay pain-free between clinic visits.
Team approach to injuries
IMPACT Health is a WCB authorized clinic.
We are experienced in taking a team approach to helping you recover from your workplace injuries. We join with your physician and Workers’ Compensation Board representative to deliver a program of effective physiotherapy that will lead to your safe return to your work as quickly as possible.
Sometimes that means devising a graduate return to work along with ergonomic counselling to ensure that an injury does not continue to recur.
One tool we use to determine when it is safe for an injured worker to return to their job is a Functional Capacity Evaluation.
It is a detailed assessment of a person’s ability to function in their job. It can lead to their return to work in an appropriate fashion, or the closure of a case. It is an essential part of the process for Worker’s Compensation claims or disability claims.
We can also provide a general purpose FCE in which standardized testing and measures are utilized on all workers being evaluated. It is used in cases when a worker does not yet have a specific duty or functional work requirement because it helps to assess a candidate’s compatibility with specific work tasks.
Disability Management (Short and Long-Term) and Disability Claims
We are experienced in providing the criteria and paperwork for short and long-term disability management and disability claims within the framework of the Worker’s Compensation Board of Alberta.

Vertigo and Balance
If you suffer from frequent falls, vertigo, imbalance, dizziness or migraines, you may be experiencing a problem with your balance system, also known as your vestibular system.
It is important to receive proper physical therapy to avoid compounding the difficulties caused by imbalance issues, including a tendency to fall and create more injuries.
Dizziness and imbalance issues can rob you of your independence and curtail your ability to live life fully and actively.
We use a variety of physiotherapies to help us address the root cause of the problem and solve it.
Pre and Post-Operative Care
Research has shown that having physiotherapy both before and after a joint replacement surgery can speed up the healing process and lead to a faster and fuller recovery.
We are knowledgeable about joint replacement surgery and other surgeries and will work as a team with your surgeon and physician to determine the most effective therapy for you.
Our goal is to help you increase strength, activity and range of motion so that you can return to your active lifestyle as quickly as possible without recurring problems.
Massage therapy is an effective tool for helping patients add flexibility to stiff joints and muscles.
This hands-on therapy mobilizes and manipulates the body to decrease pain and extend range of motion.
Coupled with prescribed exercises to be done at home between visits to the physiotherapist, it helps patients regain their strength faster and regain normal life activities.
Customized Foot Orthotics
Orthotics are particularly helpful for patients dealing with symptoms from a variety of injuries including plantar fasciitis, heel spur, flat foot, neuromas, and foot and ankle tendon injuries as well as those impacted by arthritis or diabetes or by work that involves prolong walking or standing.
Customized orthotics can assist patients plagued by persistent back pain as well.
