Tools We Use

IMPACT Health, providing physiotherapy in Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul, area near Edmonton, AB, is dedicated to customized, evidence-based care and the latest scientific technology to deliver it.

To accomplish the best results for our patients, we use a variety of healing therapies or “tools” that range from ancient arts like acupuncture to modern modalities like K-laser.

Our therapy offerings include, but are not limited to, the following:

Medical Acupuncture

Our team members are specially trained to use the traditional Chinese medicine therapy of acupuncture. It is particularly beneficial in bringing relief to patients who suffer from both acute and chronic pain.

Through the repeated penetration of the skin using thin, metallic needles, we help to correct imbalances of flow at points close to the skin and simultaneously relieves pain and stiffness

This is a highly customized therapy that is geared to work on problematic areas and then gently stimulate them using the needles.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

We are certified to deliver dry needling, a special procedure that helps reduce acute or chronic pain in patients.

It works by reducing muscle tension, promoting healing, and increasing your range of motion.

You may benefit from dry needling if you suffer from neck, back, or shoulder pain, arm pain, headaches, jaw pain, fibromyalgia, or osteoarthritis of the joints or temporomandibular disorder (TMJ) among other conditions.

Dry needling involves having our specially trained and certified physiotherapists insert a disposable filament needle into your skin and muscle tissue.

It works because the needles are directed at the myofascial trigger points that cause and refer pain throughout the body. High concentrations of chemicals that cause pain can be found in these trigger points.

When the needle is inserted, it helps to normalize these chemical levels and decrease muscle tension and pain.

K-Laser Therapy (Class 4)

K-Laser is the most advanced Class IV Therapeutic Laser and it delivers fast relief of pain and inflammation.

Laser therapy is the use of specific wave-lengths of light (red and near-infrared) to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal.

The effects of laser energy include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling.

During K-Laser Therapy, infrared laser light interacts with your body tissues at the cellular level, increasing metabolic activity within the cell.

By improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane the increased production of cellular energy is stimulated. This causes the beneficial effects that follows including increased cellular function and tissue repair.
